Fishing is a year-round sport in most of the world. Maybe you and your family enjoy fishing as a fun family activity in the summer. Or maybe you enjoy ice fishing in the frigid northern winters. Or perhaps you and your loved ones depend on fishing to provide food as part of your homesteading or off grid lifestyle. Whatever the case, giving fishing gifts is always in season.

These options will suit a variety of budgets and styles.

     Gerber Multi-Tool

This multi-tool is an item that will always be present in a fisherman’s gear or tackle box. Evident by the name, they are useful for just about everything. Gerber is one of the most popular manufacturers of outdoor gear and tools, and this multi-tool is one of their best products. The pliers are strong and durable, and perfect for removing hooks.

Among other tools, it also includes a screwdriver, a lifesaver for any loose screws on a rod. Available on Amazon, this multi-tool is a really great value and a must-have when it comes to fishing gifts.

    Rapala Fish’N Fillet Knife

This fillet knife is one of the classic fishermen’s tools. Beloved by everyone who has one (including myself), it’s hard to find a better knife for the price.

The blade has just enough flexibility for any type of fish and is incredibly durable at the same time. Included with the knife are a sharpener and a sheath. If your intended gift recipient doesn’t already have this knife, it will be one of those gifts they cherish for years (even decades).

    Deeper Fish Finder

Looking to spend a little more on fishing gifts? The Deeper Fish Finder is one of the best, and just might be the easiest to use on the market today.

It is completely wireless, sending readings through Bluetooth to your smartphone. It’s light, small, and can transmit from 150 feet. There is an app for your phone too, which maps out all crucial details that a traditional, bulky fish finder would. Any fishermen used to the older style of fish finders will fall in love with this.

    LifeProof iPhone Case & Lifejacket

If you’re out on the water, chances are you have your smartphone with you. Whether you’re taking photos of boast-worthy catches, keeping in contact with others, or using the fish finder app, you’ll likely have your phone near water.

The LifeProof cases are waterproof and shock-absorbent. Even better, the Lifejacket accessory is completely buoyant and makes sure your phone doesn’t sink if it goes overboard.

    Clam Ice Fishing Chair

For those fishermen in the colder climates who resort to ice fishing in the winter, this chair from Clam is a handy piece of gear. It’s lightweight (12 lbs), and has plenty of storage and pockets underneath and on the back.

The cushioned seat is another bonus, providing somewhat of a level of comfort while out on the ice. If you know your intended recipient is into ice fishing, they will definitely appreciate this gift.

    Yeti Fishing & Marine Coolers

So here's another of those "luxury" fishing gifts. For the past several years, Yeti has been the go-to cooler for fishermen, hunters, and just about any person who wants the best of the best. Tested, proven, and loved by many, the Yeti coolers can keep fish or snacks chilled for days.

There are even accessories that attach to the cooler, including rod holders, seat cushions, and bait trays. Yeti products, although on the pricey side, are definitely worth the investment, and they will save you from piling up years of cheaper cooler purchases in your garage.

    Simms Fishing Waders & Apparel

Clothes make great fishing gifts. From experience, fishermen are always more focused on their equipment or boats, and apparel is an afterthought (and rightly so). This, however, presents an ideal category for gifts.

Simms Fishing has a great line of waterproof/windproof apparel that will certainly keep your fisherman dry and warm. Products range from jackets to bags, but if you’re looking for a simple choice, the Waterproof Fishing Bib Overalls would be ideal for any fly-fisherman or outdoorsman in general. Their entire line of well-crafted apparel can be found on their website.

    Mystery Tackle Box

If you just don't know what to get the angler in your life, why not try a subscription box for fishermen (or women)? While I haven’t always been a fan of subscription-type fishing gifts, in recent years there has been a growing number of original, intriguing outdoor gift subscription services.

First, choose the type of fish that the intended recipient usually aims for. Then a box containing a variety of lures and hooks specific to that fish type gets delivered monthly. Either buy one box through Amazon or visit the Mystery Tackle Box site directly to order a recurring subscription.

You can choose from a 3, 6, or 12-month subscription. A mystery tackle box is a smart gift for the fisherman who already has everything.

    Fishing Tackle Bag

Traditionally, most fishermen have a tackle box, or an old container of some kind that they use for storing and transporting lures, hooks, and other fishing accessories. However, depending on the box, these can be burdensome to carry with you every time you want to go fishing. Especially if you have to walk, hike, or ride into your favorite fishing spot.

Fortunately, there are several great options for fishing tackle backpacks. These specially designed bags have places for traditional lure and hook trays to still keep all the small pieces organized in your bag. It just makes carrying your kit that much easier and keeps your hands free.

If nothing on this list caught your eye as the perfect fishing gift for your loved one, try one of our other Gift Guides for the outdoors. There are many items that any outdoors-loving person will appreciate.
