Cleaning the bathroom is one of the least enjoyable household chores. But with homemade DIY toilet cleaning bombs, you can make your cleaning routine a lot easier and faster.

DIY Toilet Cleaning Bombs: A Simple Solution for a Fresh and Clean Bathroom
If you've been following me for the past few years, you know I love to DIY as much as possible. My daughters and I have had a great time making goat milk soaps.
For the gardening season, we're loving our gardeners soap with vanilla and coffee grounds. We even tried our hand at a pine needle vinegar and homemade laundry soap too.
And while I'd love to try some of the toilet paper alternatives we've read about, I can't quite convince my family to give it a go!
It's true that getting rid of tough stains and foul odors can be a daunting task in a busy household. The bathroom, particularly the toilet, is the most challenging part to clean.
Today I'll walk you through the process of making your own DIY toilet cleaning bombs and talk about why it's a great idea to switch from commercial cleaners to homemade toilet cleaner bombs.
What are DIY Toilet Cleaning Bombs?

Toilet cleaning bombs are small, solid balls made of baking soda and citric acid that you can use to clean your toilet bowl. They are designed to fizz when they come into contact with water, which helps to loosen dirt and grime and eliminate foul odors. Homemade fizzy toilet bombs are a safe, natural, and effective way to clean your toilet without harsh chemicals.
Why You Should Make Your Own

For several reasons, making your own toilet cleaning bombs is better than using store-bought toilet cleaners.
Firstly, commercial cleaners contain harsh chemicals that are not only bad for the environment but also pose a risk to your health.
Homemade toilet bombs, on the other hand, are made from natural ingredients that are gentle on your toilet bowl and safe for your family and pets.
Secondly, making your own DIY toilet bombs is a cost-effective solution.
You only need a few simple ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen pantry. And generally, making natural cleaners are cheaper than buying commercial cleaners.
Lastly, homemade toilet bombs are easy to make. You can customize them and choose whichever cleaning ingredients you prefer for your own cleaning products.
For example, you can select your favorite essential oils to add a pleasant scent to your toilet. I find that tea tree or eucalyptus are great options for making a natural cleaning agent.
And you can also adjust the amount of citric acid to make the bombs more or less fizzy.
Main Ingredients Needed

1 ½ cups baking soda
½ cup of citric acid
2-3 teaspoons hydrogen peroxide
40 drops of essential oil (try to choose pure essential oils)
You will also need a silicone mold, or you could even use bath bomb molds for these fun DIY toilet cleaner bombs.
Directions for DIY Toilet Bowl Cleaner Bombs

In a large mixing bowl, stir the baking soda and citric acid until well mixed.
Add essential oils (choose your favorite essential oil blend) and stir to distribute the oils evenly throughout the mixture.
Slowly add the peroxide to the dry ingredients. If you dump it all in at once, you'll get an immediate chemical reaction and fizzing action, and you want to save that for the cleaning part.
Mix all the wet ingredients well, adding liquid just until you can squeeze it, and it holds its shape in your hand.
Don't add too much liquid. You want it just barely damp. It should feel like wet sand.
Press mixture firmly into silicone molds or muffin tin and allow it to sit undisturbed until hardened.
If using a larger mold like a muffin tin, you only need to fill it about half to two-thirds of the way.
Carefully remove them from the mold and pop them in a pretty glass jar on the counter. I prefer an airtight jar.
Tips: For deep cleanings or stubborn hard water stains, use more than one toilet-cleaning bomb for extra cleaning powder.

Notes
The number of toilet bowl bombs you'll need to use will depend on the size of the soap mold you choose. You will only need one if you use a larger one, say one that's near the size of a muffin pan. The small jewel mold I used this time made roughly 1”x1” bombs, and I used two of those to clean our toilets!
