Fire cider is a must-have for your natural medicine cabinet during cold and flu season. Make Fire Cider, or Master Toni as it's sometimes known, from herbs and spicy vegetables fermented with apple cider vinegar. Add all sorts of other ingredients like honey, citrus, and spices to make it not only taste a little better but also add more benefits.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups raw apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons raw honey
- 2 alapeno peppers
- 2 tablespoons turmeric
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- 2 tablespoons cup crushed garlic
- ½ medium onion
- 1 large or two small citrus
- ¼ cup fresh ginger
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 Tablespoons of horseradish
- 2 teaspoons peppercorn
- 4 cinnamon sticks
Instructions
- Rough chop onions.
- Cut thin slices of fresh ginger.
- Slice thick pieces of jalapeno pepper and discard the seeds.
- Add all dry ingredients to the bottom of a sterilized quart jar.
- Cover with raw apple cider vinegar, be sure everything is completely submerged and use more vinegar if needed.
- Place lid on top and let contents steep for 4-6 weeks, shaking every few days.
- After at least a month, strain contents into a new sanitized jar and keep in the refrigerator for a month.
