Dehydrated blueberries, raspberries, or saskatoon berries also taste great in this pemmican recipe.

When making pemmican, you'll need to render the fat down and add it back into the dried  meat and berry mixture.

The word "pemmican" comes from the Cree word "pimikan." The Encyclopedia Britannica says the Cree word means "manufactured grease."
