To help fresh berries last longer, first, wash them in a mild vinegar solution. Then place them in a  paper-towel lined container  to inhibit bacteria that lead to rotting and faster spoiling.

The best way to preserve blueberries for a long time is by canning them. My favorite way is to make blueberry jam.

Dehydrating blueberries is an excellent way to use defective berries. And it keeps you in fruit year-round without taking up freezer space.

If you're short on time, just freeze fresh berries on a cookie sheet. Then pack them in 1-cup freezer bags for later.

Blueberry puree makes a nice change from applesauce, a delightful dessert and inexpensive baby food too.
